About the Practice

An established, high-volume private anesthesiology practice operating within the rapidly growing West Valley of the Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area is seeking a highly skilled, seasoned General Anesthesiologist to join its clinical surgical team. The practice services a prominent community hospital system equipped with modern surgical suites and advanced perioperative monitoring technology. Emphasizing an independent, physician-led delivery framework, this group maintains a smooth, efficient operational workflow designed to support complex adult surgical demographics while prioritizing provider autonomy, clinical excellence, and high-tier safety standards.

Opportunity

An exceptional independent contract opportunity is available for an experienced General Anesthesiologist in Phoenix’s West Valley. This unique solo-practice role is structured around exactly 10 (24-hour) shifts per month with no medical direction responsibilities—you will do 100% of your own cases.

The clinical workload consists of adult general surgical cases paired with light trauma coverage, averaging a manageable 2 to 4 trauma calls per day. Because of the autonomous nature of this role, the practice is exclusively seeking experienced physicians. Additionally, providers have the option to pick up supplemental shifts at multiple affiliated regional sites to increase earnings. Under this contract, the incoming physician must maintain their own medical malpractice insurance policy.

Whether you are evaluating local contract parameters against national General Anesthesiologist salary benchmarks or searching for premium independent paths via state of Arizona jobs, this West Valley opening provides elite scheduling flexibility alongside maximum professional autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, manage, and precisely tailor general anesthesia, regional nerve blocks, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) for a diverse range of scheduled general surgical lines and emergency interventions.
  • Provide vigilant, independent anesthesia management for presenting light trauma cases, efficiently managing an average of 2 to 4 trauma call activations per 24-hour shift.
  • Execute 100% hands-on clinical care, maintaining absolute standalone control over patient airways, continuous physiological tracking, and intraoperative fluid resuscitation without medical direction responsibilities.
  • Conduct focused, high-efficiency pre-anesthetic clinical evaluations for incoming elective or emergent patients to optimize safety and clear perioperative care pathways.
  • Oversee patient emergence and supervise critical post-anesthesia recovery transitions to facilitate stable, well-timed transfers to intensive units or general medical floors.
  • Complete detailed, accurate, and fully compliant electronic health records (EHR) and anesthesia documentation immediately following the conclusion of each case.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Arizona.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency training program.
  • Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) or the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology (AOBA).
  • Proven post-residency clinical experience is strictly required; this position is restricted to experienced physicians only.
  • The Physician must carry and maintain their own independent professional medical malpractice insurance policy covering all active shift dates.
  • Active, valid Federal DEA registration and Arizona state controlled substance privileges.
